We don't visit Seattle often enough, so this weekend we took a day trip to see an IMAX movie at the Pacific Science Center followed by lunch in the big City. The Pacific Science Center is one of the attractions found at the Seattle Center, home of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. This also the home of the Space Needle, Experience Music Project and Key Arena.
We headed north to Ballard for lunch and found The Dish Cafe on Leary Way, a small and busy cafe with counter service. Nothing very fancy here, but good coffee, corned beef hash, Reuben, burgers, omelets and more. Toast was made from bread sourced at a local bakery. Be prepared to wait for a table and while you wait check your supply of cash because this is a "no credit card" establishment.
Another neighborhood cafe we really like is Geraldine's Counter in the Columbia City neighborhood on the main thoroughfare known as Rainier Avenue South.
I like these types of places because they give you a feel for what it's like to live in the neighborhood while you are enjoying the meal.
